Lucky 7: Peek at a new story

The Rules:
  1. Go to page 77 of your current MS.
  2. Go to line 7.
  3. Copy down the next 7 lines/sentences, and post them as they’re written. No cheating.
  4. Tag 7 other victims …er, authors.
This was VERY hard for me, so secretly I'm plotting a way to get back at my dear friend, Tara Fuller, for this tag punishment. :) See, I have GRAVITY, which my editor would kill me if I posted 7 lines of right now. Then I have my WIP, which my agent might be upset if I posted 7 lines of. So...I had to choose another WIP, which is as rough as sandpaper. So beware, this has not been edited beyond what I do as I write. The project is called CULT, and it's a story of wicked deeds set in a private school in the deep south. Here goes:

########

Their robes hung like crows’ wings, black and shiny and oozing threat. I watched them taking in the new girl, watched as their eyes glazed over in anticipation. Such was the role of a pledge, even one like me.

The mirrored room sparked as one by one candles lit around the room. The new girl shook, finally able to see our numbers, her fear tangible. Not a good sign. Talen’s expect strength and courage. Shaking will only make the night longer.

I know. I shook, too.
########

Now for MY victims:
  1. Chloe Jacobs
  2. Kate Avelynn
  3. Lea Nolan
  4. Jus Accardo
  5. Stephanie Thomas
  6. Victoria Scott
  7. Lindsay Cummings

  1. Oooh fun! Although MY editor will kill me if I pull from my still not edited manuscript! I'll yank something awe-inspiring from an old ms too!

  3. Yay! So good. I kept telling myself it was only 7 lines, but it is hard to put it out there. This makes me even more excited to read all of your books :)
